I am looking for suggestions and or tips. I have been in the food and beverage industry for nearly 30 years. I've been everything from a dishwasher to my current roll as a kitchen manager. I truly love cooking for people. As I reach this stage of life and career. I wonder what positions are out there that would allow me to be in more of a leadership roll, and less of a on the line, grinding out the orders. I feel as though I've put in my time as a grunt and want to see more of the business side.

If there is any way you can start leaning into the business side where you are at now? Start picking up that experience, and ideally can step into a role with more guidance. Director, GM, even consulting are some I’ve seen others go to after they were down being on the front line, so to speak.

I would have a conversation with your manager. Let them know how you are feeling and ask if there is room for you to move up in the company. If there isn't, then it is time to look for something new.

Small places often give you the opportunity to help on the business side (maybe train you for floor manager? Otherwise if you’re at a big place, maybe try part time somewhere small where they’ll give you a chance part time. I’ve seen it happen.

Really kind of shocking that management would bring in three pretty conservative speakers. I mean, we know where Rob and they stand, but I thought MYJourney was about building us up as leaders and finding what makes us happy and succeed, not just throwing politics right in our face.
