Hi Fellow BGM!!! I have a situation. Someone applied to my company and claimed to have graduated from an HBCU. In doing the background check it was revealed she did attend however she didn’t graduate. She’s an amazing talent and has great references. I followed up with her and she admitted she didn’t graduate but was desperate to get the job. I feel stuck. I could hire her and see how it goes but am I now setting a precedent for allowing this foolishness? What if she’s good? Need some advice.
Currently comfortable at my current position at my company as an engineering consultant (15YOE). Was presented with a position to apply and I don’t pass up opportunities if they might benefit me. This new job is something I’m not too familiar with and a whole different line of work but I currently make $86k. The new position the salary range starts at $100k and up (based on experience) plus bonuses. I have a good shot on getting this position but idk what to ask for salarywise.
Would you consider this person a great hire because they worked at so many places and gained so much experience, or not a great hire because they couldn’t stick it out for more than a year at pretty much any one place?
A Juneteenth Miracle: The day before, my so-called leader tried to mansplain design to me after I went out of my way to get something done in 2.5 hours that typically takes 1-2 days. Needless to say, your girl was HOT. Reinforced my boundaries and logged off! Took the day to reflect & celebrated all weekend. After many YEARS of searching, I was offered a creative manager position on Sat. w/ a 20% pay raise 😱 Gave my 2- (really one 🤭) week notice this Monday after a VERY Black OOO message 👸🏽
Is it true that Salesforce has slowed down hiring? I am supposed to panel but have been told they may be realigning priorities so I have not been told if they will move forward with my candidacy.
I have a 30 minute excel study case as the final step for a potential job. It would be a great raise and a step into the field I ultimately want to be in. The hiring manager told me that it is a basic test, more to see how much I know. However, I want to exceed expectations. I do use excel daily, but nothing too complicated. Does anyone have any tips or resources that might help me wow upper management and land this role? Thank you in advance.
Moving into a management role and am slightly nervous about leading a team’s personal and professional development. Any good recs on books/classes I can take in meantime to ease my anxiety? Process I have no problem with, but want to make sure I’m doing right by the people I will be leading.
I’m a jr litigation associate with many years of tech work pre law school. A former coworker has offered to submit my resume for a legal role at her company (also tech) basically doing contract and privacy work as well as other tasks relevant to my former work life. My current resume is full of litigation experience from law school, since my resume is written for applying to lit positions. On the one hand, it bolsters my legal experience. On the other, it’s not relevant to this role. Do I cut?

I am an HR Business Partner at my current company but have been afforded a few human capital consulting opportunities with various big 4 firms. I don’t think I’d want to make a career out of it given the long hours, however I’m contemplating accepting the role and doing consulting for 2 years and then going back to industry. Is this a practical path? How hard is the transition from consulting to industry and what sort of roles have ppl landed that did transition to industry? Would love advice!

Need some advice: I'm at a very large system I integrator, doing of all things strategy work... I'm doing 120k/year. I have crazy line of sight with executives at the company. Problem is that, I'm not seeing the high standards I expect from individuals at this level and it's buzzkill. Should I jump and where? I'm assuming, I wouldn't have the ability to do the same stuff I'm doing now. Thoughts?
Need advice! I was talking to two females. 1. Was an ex we have been broken up for 8 months now, we are basically a long distance friends with benefits. 2. Was an lady I met 3 weeks ago

Hey, I received a verbal offer from EY for a role as manager, which was quite a low ball offer. I had received another offer from a different firm and I informed EY HR about it. I was told yesterday that they have an updated offer for me, scheduled the call twice with me but didn't actually call and told me she got occupied in other meetings. I have not got a response from her yet on the mails, should I contact the hiring partner directly? other firm is asking me to update as well.
