Additional Posts in Administrative Assistants
Hi all, does anyone know of any recruiters or hiring managers that work in Affirm Inc. I've been applying for a couple of jobs with them . The role I have applied for I know lam a extraordinary fit for
100% and can help the company/ department succeed. I have a good deal of experience with this role and would love to talk to a recruiter or a hiring manager more about this. If anyone
could reach out to me if you have any information on that I would greatly appreciate it.

it has been this way ever since i started working as an office manager, secretary and admin assistant. They want you to know everything, and teach everyone else everything and speak several languages and have a degree and and pay you practically nothing as if yea they are doing you a favor. And after all that, you are treated like an alien and you won't be included in anything socially except to plan and manage the social happenings of the office. Its insulting i agree. I've been doing this work since 1970's and nothing has changed. I have worked in other states, in federal gov't and active duty military and now i'm back in NC and nothing has changed re this position.
It's even more so in the military. Since you were there, you know how stubborn they are about old culture. The military also reflects the rest of the world; everyone is so allergic to change.
Yes, and I will add there is age discrimination as well. I am 69, and have to still work. Trying to find even am part time job is hard. I am college educated, and have many years of experience in manufacturing, purchasing, higher education,
But yet, when I do get to interview, I don't pass inspection.
Going through the same issues.
Yes come to Las Vegas. That’s all the office jobs 15-18/hr.
In the area I'm looking at job openings the current pay rate for an admin assist is $23 to $25 hourly. I was making about $30 an hour doing the same tasks. What makes it even worse is that I am looking for work and am not seeing livable wages or even enough to survive on.
I’m I Northern TX. All I can do is pray that things are going to change and get better!
I am seeing these too. For certain skill sets, they are underpaying versus others. Some want you to be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel yet on the job you may never use Power Point/Excel, but they say you aren't qualified if you don't have them. I also think that if an employer can get someone for less, they will...but in the process can be setting themselves up for a revolving door syndrome wherein they hire someone for $15.00, but that person doesn't stay for very long and leaves for a better paying job. With the high cost of inflation for "everything" $15.00 doesn't cut it for paying rent/mortgages, utilities, insurances (car and homeowners), gas, food, etc. That $15.00 may have worked 3-4 years ago before the inflation took over but not now. Only person that can survive on that is someone who still lives at home!
I know, I just got offered a receptionist position that they want to pay me $15 hr. Thats what McDonalds pays. There was a hostess position at Bob Evans paying $15 hr. Thats crazy. When the govt was discussing increasing minimum wage they were talking $15 hr. Not like they're going to do it, but thats the opinion.
I just saw a receptionist position for $12.00
SMH
Absolutely. I would highly recommend starting to see about "project management" as a lot of the skills are transferrable. There's a Google course (self paced) for $30/month, and unemployment will sometimes pay for it outright as training - and it at least has slightly better pay and more upward momentum.
Source: Was an administrative assistant for 5 years, and this last year I got a job as a project coordinator - only thing that changed about my resume was the Google certificate.
$15 is the highest and I was laid off in January due to business being slow at $22 an hour.
Many of these firms lack the intelligence to value good admin.
Good admin means stuff is done efficiently and accurately, that data is clean, customers are happy, and there's an overall *polished* look and organisation to the business.
Unfortunately it's typically a "female job" so it doesn't get valued, and is treated like something any idiot could do.
Smart businesses see their admin as structural support and the first line of defence in their business' appearance. From personal experience? The receptionist/office manager is often the person who knows everything that is going on, can fix things, and can gatekeep who gets access to who and what. And good ones will keep their mouths shut and deflect very well.
Too bad a lot of places don't realise this and treat the role so casually.
Amen
Since I’m
Not even in the US AND with native English level - degree and years of experience we sometimes get offers up to $7 per hour 😂 so $15 would be amazing…. We now need to specialize in some areas to go up and get higher paying or high ticket clients … possible? 100% but we definitely need to put it in the work
How many voted for the Republican Party?
Anyone ever gotten a Job via Glassdoor?
Yes!!!! Some are only willing to pay just above minimum wage but are asking for duties that are not only reception but office assistant and admin too. Unreal.
Yes, they want degrees, experience, certificates and offer you what an entry level person rate because they can't figure out to get the AI to do it.
What gets me is they are posting a pay rate of $15-16 an hour yet they want someone with 6 months or more of experience along with both a High School diploma / GED AND either an Associate or bachelor's Degree (or both if you have them). $15 - $16 an hour would work out IF one lived at home with mommy / daddy and had all their bills paid for by mommy / daddy. I can only really see a job paying under $20 an hour as a base rate if they also got a commission as well.
