November is an awful start date - you’ll do training for a few weeks then it’s Thanksgiving. Then it’s two weeks before winter holidays. Sometimes January takes a week or two to pick up. So you’re in your third month at your new job with zero real case experience but expected to deliver results. Unless you’ve done MBB before, you’re shooting yourself in the foot at the starting line.
^This is worth considering. If you’re a month out from your start date, people assume they have to teach you stuff. If you’re 3 months out, they’re annoyed that they have to teach you things.
Get in while the door is still ajar. Anywhere.
Rising Star
If you’re coming to us, don’t worry about the start date. They’ll find you a project after you arrive and we don’t pull offers. If this is important to you, discuss it with your recruiter and get a sense for options.
Agree with M3
While you’re getting mixed feedback here, note that almost everyone who is ACTUALLY AT MBB THEMSELVES says that it will be fine. And I agree. You have the rest of your life to work, take a couple extra months now while you can get it.
Yes it’s perfectly safe. Do what’s best for you. No need to worry about offers being rescinded (and especially not because of AI)
Smart. Yolo
Not a smart decision but you do you.
Totally fine!
Totally fine. Think half of my batch postponed their start date to enjoy life. Also doesn’t affect any career progression. Hope you enjoy the few extra months. Live a little
Don’t know how it is in your country, M1. But in the Nordics, it is definitely fine :)
Honestly I’d see if you can start early, the motes are being closed right now, I’m shocked they are hiring at all.
Take it and enjoy. Consulting is doing well atm (at least Kearney is). Life is too short to worry about few months of income in a long career.
