I've been doing some thinking along the same lines, as it doesn't look like public education in America has much of a future. The thing people always talk about when switching careers is what transferable skills do you have. So I think that's the place to begin, do some brainstorming about the skills you've developed. And think about where they could be put to use. And, of course, think about the kind of work you'd like to be doing.

A friend of mine retired early, like 55 due to a heart attack. Anyway for the last 10 years she’s been tutoring and she does well financially. Just a thought
My daughter is an ENL teacher, she works hour shy of being FT therefore the job is considered PT under a non teacher’s union. She has no medical insurance, and considered instructor. This is the thread in many school districts. Amazing that Biden let 10 million undocumented in with children and did not fund schools to support the staff needed. I also see many teachers retiring because they are teaching classes, and many students can’t understand what she is saying.
