I used to think I was fine with going into the office, but now that I’ve gotten used to the flexibility of hybrid work, it feels like a totally different world. Being at home gives me the space I need to focus without being constantly interrupted. I feel more energized, too, because I’m not drained from a long commute or office distractions.
I felt the exact same way after I was laid off in December. Now all of the firms want in office or hybrid. I’m more distracted, have to deal with work gossip and politics. PLUS, I did more work at home than I could ever imagine going back into the office. I’m now beginning to pivot my legal career of 19+ years to something very hybrid or remote or a different career in legal. Tired of the paralegal bs, I’m burnt out. Applying now for executive assistant positions either at law firms or at other places that pay more and half do not require you to be in office. I was way more productive working from home. The Firms either just want a brick and mortar for appearances OR they’re stuck in their lease like my last Firm.
