And before that it referred to a certain checkpoint in Berlin. More importantly, it is the recognised word for "C" in NATO Phonetic Alphabet.
There wasn't much to realise and she was merely spelling out the seat number the way she's meant to. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot
fair.
but sometimes as minorities things “hit“ a little harder than they should. there is a history and Vietnam is far more recent than World War II and not everyone knows the NATO phonic alphabet
Perfect example of needless victimizing. She’s doing her job, the right way. People are taking offense wherever they can find it. Ridiculous.
Huh?
the passenger is Asian. during Vietnam War “Charlie” referred to the Vietnamese
This is ridiculous. Charlie is commonly used and widely accepted as a phonetic for C. You have to be looking for something to be upset about to be upset about this

FA: 23C, C as in Charlie

someone asked for the explanation of why there were wide eye looks. I gave it.
you may think it’s ridiculous and it’s clearly your right to do so.
While I agree that words matter - in this case i can’t believe that it was on purpose or had any unintended meaning either. Charlie is the accepted way to say C.
to be clear I didn’t say that it was the wrong thing to say
all I’m pointing out in some instances the words and phrases we use can make for awkward situations.
