I don’t know about you guys, but I feel that everything is negative in this industry. The only solution people have for the problems at work is drinking and complaining. Who else is sick of that?

Took my first ever sick day today on account of my very poor and worsening mental health. Just could not bring myself to put in another 14 hour day with back to back meetings and constant activity. Felt very guilty but I honestly wish I could be more honest and actually share with my manager about why I took a day off.

For those also going through this, any tips on how you manage yourself day to day? What self talk tends to help?

What is a good read/place to start with FIRE? I’m 28 and have 1k in my bank account and 110k in student debt. Making 65k but have had to spend most of my savings on medical issues recently :( I think that deluge of shit is going to end soon and I can go back to saving, but I don’t know what my next move should be. What misconceptions do you think people have about social work? or therapy?

I feel like I can’t redeem my career. I’ve been out of paying work since I graduated. My bar was delayed due to a medical problem and since then I’ve only been able to find volunteering. I’ve been working for free for 2 years now. My network is tapped, my mentors are confused why I can’t find anything, my law school’s career services actually gave up on me, I don’t have the money to move to a new place, I have no other support and I can’t even go back to retail because nobody’s hiring out here.

I wanted to share that I am in my first job as ui/ux expert and I am the only ux/ui person in the team. I am expected to take care of entire research and design of the product. It becomes very overwhelming as the product that I am working on is in a early phase and I am expected to think about ui as well as ux and also design entire app on my own.There is no user interview or user testing happening as my project manager thinks it can be done after product is launched. I have been using this emoji 🙏 and saying to so many colleagues and clients “I’ll pray for you” with such warm and genuine receipt that I think sometimes God uses hopelessness to open people’s hearts to Him. I’ve spoken about my faith to work people more than I ever have in my 20 year career. In such a dark time, what a light prayer can be for our coworkers and clients.
