M1, when we pay for insurance, there are life events where we travel also, so there are high chances that some level of coverage will be available. It’s unfortunate that the person asking here is Indian, had it been a British your tone would be different .
@M1 You are not only obnoxious but also lacking in common sense and basic intelligence. How the hell did you become a manager? Yes HSA can be used anywhere as it should be. I see why someone would have doubts about that. But to be sure of the opposite being true needs a different level of stupidity which you seem to display with pride. I wouldn’t have cared to correct if someone gave a wrong answer because of misinformation. But I felt compelled to school your ass because of your obnoxiousness.
M1- WTF is your reply? If you don’t want to answer or don’t know the answer, then stfu and don’t respond!
Honestly why is this bowl the most negative of them all?
Dude wtf come on now
SA1 - let's ignore the trolls. Peace ✌️
Thanks PwC 1! Was just trying to see if I can use the funds if I decide to go back..
Yes we can. We can also use it for approved medical expenses for our immediate family members 😇
- IRS
^correction - HSA = Pre-Tax money
HSA funds don't expire when you switch jobs (or move back). FSA funds do. I had Payflex for a few years now and if you don't contribute AND have a lower balance - they levy a penalty (much like your bank account asking you to maintain a minimum). Otherwise- your HSA is for your life and can pretty much use to pay all your medical anywhere in the world.
Another way is to withdraw the funds in parts- so that when you get taxed- you can still claim it during your refund (since your US income will zero).
OP what kind of an insane question is this? You want an insurance company to pay for your expenses in another country ?
It’s an odd question but not out of the realm of possibility. And insurance companies rout idly send Americans overseas to pay for their treatments - it’s not some wild idea. So don’t shit on OP guys, come on.
@OP. In some instances, your HSA funds expire with employment. Not sure what you mean by going back but if you are not with the firm, then you won’t be able to use them. Again.. it depends on the HSA account. So be sure to check that
^^
Yes PwC 1, I meant quitting the firm and going back. I will check with my employer about this. Don’t want to leave money on the table. Thanks!

Leave M1 alone. The person who asks a silly question instead of looking at the policy deserves silly answers!
Manager 1 - your attitude is stinks more than your comments.. repeating, how the hell you became manager??? It’s sad that people in consulting become managers (not all) on only technical skills... (assuming you have those)
@EY1 that’s the whole point of fishbowl. Crowdsourcing your queries and getting fast answers that are right almost all of the times. But maybe it’s just me who doesn’t enjoy spending a bunch of time on a workday and trying to find out a small clause hidden somewhere..
Also. You don’t make sense based on your own logic. Silly questions deserve silly answers, fine. But not wrong answers! Please don’t enable rude behavior no matter how shitty a day you had
