I found out today that the new hire who has two years less experience than me is making $15k more because they negotiated better during the peak of the hiring craze. I like my team, but knowing I’m being underpaid for the same (or more) work is eating me alive. I want to bring it up in my annual review, but I know they’ll just give me the budget constraints speech. Should I even bother trying to negotiate a market adjustment, or is it always faster to just leave for a new company?

I would be really annoyed if I found that out. It might be worth it to try and negotiate a market adjustment, honestly. The job market is awful right now, and you could be looking for months for a new role.

When you bring it up, don't word it as wanting to make more because you know someone else is paid more. Bring up your fair market value, along with your accomplishments at the company. I wouldn't hold your breath, though. Start looking for a new job with a better salary.

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
