Saying the truth is so much easier in this scenario than making up a story. It was long time ago you should have known better you learned your lesson. A clean conscious makes a comfy pillow
I agree - and tbh if you tell the truth and they still aren't keen on you, they probably won't be the best people to work for imo.
It’s easier to keep your story straight when you tell the truth.
Why would a romantic relationship make someone ineligible to be hired? Doesn’t really make sense, but I am not in HR. Goodness.
U already left EY?
I know a pwc partner got married with another pwc partner. Yeah office romantic from top down
You should be honest and be contrite and say it was so long ago you learned from it blah blah. If they rescind your offer because of that, then screw them. It’s their loss
There’s nothing to be contrite about. I would just tell them you had a romantic relationship with someone and you got no regrets.
Not a problem for EY why would it be for PwC
How did EY not asked u about this but pwc? i didnt think that was allowed for a company to show as not rehireable. thought was only internal info.
Tell the truth. Explain office relationship when you were young and learned your lesson. I’d wager they won’t cares. They are probably more concerned that you did other things.
Just be honest. It was a really long time ago, it’s not that scandalous and big firms care a lot less about office romance.
They really prob just want to be able to document something for the flag on the BG check.
So many people fool around and have relationships with co workers in the big4. This shouldnt be an issues. If it is, it would be hypocrisy
I tried to DM you but it wouldn’t let me.
What happened that resulted in you being let go?
Okay. I would just say, early in my career I was in a relationship with someone I worked with. I didn’t disclose the relationship and when management found out about it I was let go.
Tell them the truth. Pwc doesn’t care if you had a romantic relationship with someone at work just because your old firm did. I met and dated my now spouse at PwC. It wasn’t a secret. You just have to disclose and not work for whoever that person is.
Same. Except I didn’t disclose anything. Everyone knew. No one cared. Just be honest PwC won’t care unless by “it went bad” there was some harassment issue or something.
Tell the truth and then share a lot about how much you learned and grew from the experience. For what it’s worth, I’ve seen so many people meet their spouse at the firm. This is a crazy reason not to rehire, unless the relationship made the work environment hostile or something. 🤔
Just keep it simple & the truth. You were involved in an office relationship that didn’t work out but wasn’t disclosed because you didn’t want it to impact either of your work - yours or hers (because yes people still look down on the woman for it). In the end, despite trying to minimize it, when it ended it did affect your workplace. Lesson learned.
Great response. Direct, informative and to the point.!
Honesty is the best policy
If you are well qualified for the job, I don’t think they would care, unless you committed fraud or caught a felony. At least, that is my prospective as a hiring manager. In your case, tell the truth. Your story is plausible.
Just tell the truth, it's NBD unless you make it one
