I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Any word on layoffs at JPM?

My teammate got laid off two weeks ago. She was distraught. Two days later someone else quit and she was then offered to come back in that person’s job. She accepted. Today she got a verbal offer at a new agency for a promotion for 40% higher salary. Everything is in motion. Hang in there.
Feel your feelings. Fear. Disgust. Anger. Sadness. All of that.
I read somewhere that you should give yourself three days of uninterrupted feeling. Then get your eyes on the prize of making connections and finding a new role.
The job market is loosening up out there.
Good luck to you!
Soo sorry to hear...Can you please DM your book? Let me see if we have at least a freelance gig open.
Don't worry even the president is about to get fired. In all seriousness things will turn out for the better, stay up.
OP, I’m sorry. When I got laid off this summer everyone said “it’ll be the best thing that ever happened to you” and I thought “yeah right.” I had a rough few months where it seemed hopeless, but they were actually right. I landed something amazing and just started last week. Hang in there.
Hang in there OP. 🙏
You’ve got this. I was laid off in April. Ended up being a blessing. Found a job in June and really needed to leave but wouldn’t have done it on my own. Much happier and lighter now. Use it as an opportunity to understand what you want in life (and know what you don’t want.) you will be okay ❤️
Sorry to hear OP. I feel like I’ve seen an uptick in job openings. Hope ya find something better than before

Take a deep breath. The universe may send you someplace better. This happened to me. Register for unemployment. See if your local utilities offer freebies for covid layoffs. Don’t interview for new gigs right away. Clear your head. Reset. A cool new chapter you may otherwise never have taken will soon enough reveal itself. It’s happening to me. And you next.
I’m sorry. That sucks. The good news is that being laid off is almost a right of passage in advertising, it happens to all of us. Your luck will change. Things will get better.
I was too. Took a month to get my resume and site PERFECT. Now 6 weeks later I’ve got 3 great job offers. Do the work to get yourself and your book ready to go. Then network network network. Good luck!
I’ve been jobless since March. Embrace it. It can be magical. And it will only be temporary. Hopefully you don’t hit the 7month mark but if you do, just hang on. Today is Friday. Go on a run. Workout. Whatever makes you sweat. Write random headlines for something you see. Apply for a job that makes you nervous. Cook a badass dinner. Make a drink (and limit it if you can). Make a game plan to redesign your site. Spend some days looking at portfolios, agencies, and work you admire. And call your grandparents to say hello if you can.
You’ve got this OP. We’re here for you.
That’s hard I’m sorry. I was laid off last year and I was a mess at first but it was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Hard to see those blessings in the midst of the turmoil but you will!
It happens. You'll get through it. It'll happen again. You won't be scared next time. Probably another time after that. You'll be excited that time because you know how much you're going to grow and learn, just as you did the last 2 times.
I know it doesn't feel like it now, but it's an opportunity to grow and find something better!
sorry to hear it OP
what agency? :(
I’m so sorry ❤️
There are definitely job openings out there, at least.
You’ll be fine. A year and a half ago I thought I might be out of advertising and it all worked out and I’m still here. More than once, the advertising gods waited until the 11th hour to save my hide...but my hide has always been saved.
