Its a PR move. The funniest thing was Patagonia pulling their ads. They are a winter clothing brand..why in hell would they even advertise in summer now? They just got free positive coverage of simply doing what they do every year.
Uneducated commenter. Ignore.
Gotta love Fox News framing the BLM movement as a group having a list of demands. Know who else has lists of demands? Hijackers, kidnappers, and terrorists. They’ve chosen these words deliberately. Such an evil bunch.
But your point about the hypocrisy of advertising on Fox is well taken. While Facebook has tried to remain neutral toward the ideas and information shared on its platforms, Fox deliberately tries to obfuscate and influence toward a specific political end.
Not sure I'd call it evil. I know the material is more serious than the Kardashians for example, but is this really any different than reality TV, listicles, or long form recipe content?
Just farming that attention for media dollars.
It’s timely opportunism.
Cut down on ad spending during a recession, while indirectly -yet intentionally- creating a PR move that advocates stronger branding and brings earned media.
Did they make FB lose billions? Sure. Good. F*** them.
It is opportunistic and low-key beneficial for them, too? Also “yes.”

Moving their dollars around meekly in a weak assed effort to appease, mostly.
It is known.
I sort of understand the boogeymen Fox is going for by listing the first 9 — sort of — but are average Americans really against publicly financed campaigns? (Also, is there really supposed to be a hyphen in “publicly-financed?”)
And frankly, I think most of these, if implemented properly, would truly help make America great. Is BLM the real MAGA?! Mind. Blown.
If someone heard the term “publicly financed campaigns” without knowing what it means (aka fox viewers) they would probably be scared by it.
these demands are.. confusing & sad.
this can’t be real. is it?
The demands are not confusing and sad. Perhaps you are just simple and confused.
Brands leaving Facebook is great and bold. It has already caused Facebook to shut down lots of white supremacy pages. Please don’t diminish that. I do think that Unilever and P&G for instance have taken a stance of BLM before now so I don’t see them as opportunistic, but the more the merrier frankly.
Fox News is another story... I’m all for boycotting them too but the reality is brands need white trash people to survive too. So I’m ok with just Facebook for now. Fox News is probably watching anxiously on the side anyways.

Well, even if this is a misleading exageration purposefully made to make them look ridiculous, they look pretty ressonable to me.

The thing is this is not about the reasonable people - this is for the swathe of unreasonable people who this will trigger

It’s an election year, they need to spend billions somewhere to get you to vote red or blue.
Not the most informed theory, but moving social spend is probably way easier than moving TV spend, depending on the media dept or client.
