I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Coming from a family lawyer, you don’t want to do family law lol
Consider estate planning. It has similar aspects (property law, counseling) but less war. It takes a long time to learn the technical aspects (so as to not be a dangerous estate planner), but consider broadening your scope. People appreciate you more than their divorce lawyer, and you develop longer-term relationships with clients and families. There is a shortage of us, too.
Speak to a recruiter. They may be able to place you!
I’ll definitely try, thank you!
Can your school help? I would think they have some connections if they have a program. Maybe the university law clinic could help? Is there a local legal administrator organization that may have openings
I also am having trouble landing a position. I graduated may 2024 with a paralegal degree and did an internship. I’ve been applying to firms but still haven’t landed a spot. They require 3+ years experience. Anxiety is high but I’m trying to stay positive! I’ve done research and they say to send cold emails to firms so I will try that.
If you need experience, volunteer at free or low cost legal clinic or service in your area.
What aspect of family law are you trying to break into? If you want to do multi-million dollar divorces, just keep applying. Otherwise, people generally break into it doing public defender and guardian ad litem work.
what market are you in?
Yes
If you haven’t already, maybe consider cold calling firms that interest you and asking if they’re hiring. A lot of places are too busy to properly recruit and it shows initiative that can be attractive and help you stand out from a pile of resumes. You could also try rolling up to the office with your application in a nice folder and bring the receptionist a donut or a coffee or something…sometimes little unique gestures like that can help break the ice
