I had a bad week and had to take a last minute week off - when I returned to work the mid-level I was assisting was all smiley and seemed full of care, but now I find out that she’s frozen me off all email chains on the transaction altogether. What should I do? Totally at a loss here

Why do you think she froze you out? Is it possible that she took you off out of respect for your time out of the office? We do that at my firm all the time.

likehelpful

I am super paranoid about these things so I totally get how you’re feeling. But it’s likely she forgot she took you off in the first place! Definitely mention it on the call, but I wouldn’t worry too much.

like

I’d ask for a call with her to catch up on outstanding matters then go down your list, get status updates, and find out what you can do next. That will give you some insight into whether you’ve actually been frozen out or not. It’s also a good opportunity to reiterate your appreciation for her covering for you while you were OOO.

Thank you

Err, so well, she’s confirmed she’s frozen me out with a phone call saying “If you want me to treat you like an associate and not a clerk you better act like it”.

Any updates OP? So sorry this happened

I accepted a job offer in April to start a few months from now, post clerkship. All conflicts/background check went smoothly etc. Since accepting my offer, the firm has increased their 1st year pay across the board to be higher than my offer was (which was, at the time, what 2nd yeas got). When should I reach out to the recruitment attorney leading up to my start date? Or should I? (Haven't spoken since May) Should I bring up the salary or just assume its higher?

I have pretty reasonable hours at my current firm and trying to avoid going to a sweatshop. Interested in international tax and hoping to avoid m&a. Firms I’m considering: Latham, Gibson, Sidley, Goodwin, Milbank. Thank you all!

Should I take more initiative? It’s my stub year and I’m getting worried. Should I be reaching out more?
