We are not complaining. We like the extra time but also want to make sure this is good for the baby in the long run developmentally. Can some parent who sleep trained their baby let us know your thoughts?
This seems fine, although a bit on the longer side but each baby is different. Check out taking Cara babies for guidelines, I think she recommends 4-5
Hours of daytime sleep for this age range
We had a sleep consultant some years ago and probably one of the best things for your child’s brain development is to sleep….also there is a book that has a table of total hours of sleep I think it was about 12-16 hrs for newborns
12-15 hours at that age is normal. Some babies need more, some a little less.
If you feel it’s too much reach out to her pediatrician.
My friend’s daughter we called sleeping beauty. She used to sleep from 7pm-9am. She would only be up until noon and then sleep from 12-3/4pm. This was when she was under 1-18 months! Part of me was envious she could get so much work done since her kid was always sleeping. Personally, I thought it was way too much, but not my place. She asked her ped because she was questioning it. The ped said it’s fine. She clearly needs the sleep and is overstimulated during the hours she’s awake by her brothers.
Are any of your children who slept so much particularly tired or groggy during the day? If so, could be some other underlying condition like sleep apnea or allergies that could be worth checking out.
