I'm in HR- Talent Acquisition for 10+ years. I've noticed that the hiring processes have gotten longer and longer. I think it's due to competitiveness of the process. If you interviewed at the beginning of their process... they would still need to interview the other candidates before they can make a decision. For example if you were the first to interview of the 15-20 candidates they have to interview then your wait time would be substantially longer than the 20th person they interview. Unless you are such a strong candidate and hit the interview out of the park, they will continue to interview everyone in the queue or until they do encounter the unicorn they are looking for. If you do like the company and really want to be part of their organization, I would recommend applying to other positions with them as you are waiting. It will not decrease you chances with the original application. Usually the courtesy email is not sent out until the job has been filled and requisition is closed.
Thank you, everyone! I got rejected today. While I had a feeling it might happen, it still stings a little. I'm gonna take it as a valuable learning experience, and I’m proud to have made it to the final round with such a big company. Hoping to do even better next time, and that the job market starts looking up soon!
In theory they should get back to you either way but it seems like companies have stopped doing that. I would ty reaching out to them and if you don't hear back then I would move on. You very well might have been ghosted.
Most people act as if they were above folks who are in market and seeking employment. As if they never could find themselves out of work.
If it’s a no I wouldn’t expect to hear anything from them. Sometimes their system will send an automated rejection email but it’s not guaranteed. If you haven’t heard anything, you could try reaching out again to get an answer but if it’s a no I wouldn’t expect much.
Since I can't reply, I'm writing here. I guess I'll take it as a no. It would've been nice if they provide at least a rejection email for finalists instead of going total silence. How is your job portal status, Senior Director 1?
Last time I checked it was still under consideration. But I stopped checking and moved on.
I also interviewed with AT&T and BOA they have a contract, was told by both companies I was great and they wanted me on board. That was February still waiting!
For what position?
Good morning!
I'm reaching out as I'm working on a project with my financial firm. We work with a lot of individuals to help them supplement new streams of income, using an educational platform that teaches wealth principles.
Are you open to learning a different industry, even just part time?
I don't know if it'll be a fit for you or not, and if not all good. Love to network and at very least there may be someone you know who is a fit.
Let me know if you're open to a 20–25-minute conversation.
Look forward to seeing if I can help in any way.
Talk soon!
Thanks, SR Sourcer 1! As someone in HR, how do you see the current job market? I’d really appreciate it if you could share any tips (even small ones) on how to stand out as a candidate via message!
While the outcome isn’t what you were hoping, at least you got closure. Good luck and hope you land soon!
What was the position you applied for? The more competitive and demanding, the more cutthroat they can be
Give it a couple weeks then kiss it goodbye
