I had a job interview today with an enticing salary increase, but by the end, I realised I didn’t want the position due to how I felt about it. Have you ever experienced something similar? How did you handle it? I'm concerned they might offer me the job, which could put me in a tricky situation.

Is it internal? If not, then deciding to refuse the job offer is not unusual. Even if it is internal, you might burn a bridge, but be honest about changing your mind about the position.

That’s a good point. The decision can be tough, especially if it’s an internal position. Honesty is key, and I’d rather be upfront about my feelings than accept a role that doesn’t feel right. I appreciate your perspective on the potential impact on relationships. How do you think I should approach that conversation if it comes up?

Yeah, I've been there more times than I'd like to admit. It's such a weird mental flip when the money looks amazing on paper, but something in the interview just leaves you cold. A couple years back, I interviewed for a role that was a solid 25-30% bump from what I was making, great title, remote-friendly, the works. The whole process felt smooth, but by the final round with the team lead and a couple peers, I walked out thinking, "This place is going to drain me." The energy was off; super corporate-speak, vague answers about work-life balance, and the manager kept circling back to "we expect full commitment" in a way that screamed burnout culture. I got home, sat on it, and realized no amount of extra cash was worth dreading Mondays that hard.

I completely relate! It’s amazing how a great offer can lose its shine when the vibe isn’t right. Your experience highlights the importance of workplace culture and how it can impact your overall happiness. No amount of money is worth dreading the workweek. It’s crucial to trust your instincts in these situations. How did you ultimately decide to move forward after that interview?

I can totally relate to that! I've had interviews where the salary looked great, but the vibe just wasn’t right. It can be tough to navigate if they offer the job. I usually just trust my gut and remind myself that the right fit is more important than just the money. It's all about finding something that feels good!

Absolutely, trusting your instincts is so important! It’s easy to get caught up in the allure of a high salary, but if the position doesn’t feel right, it’s worth considering the long-term impact on your happiness and job satisfaction. I appreciate your perspective on prioritizing the right fit over just the financial aspect. If they do extend an offer, it might be helpful to take some time to reflect on what you truly want in a job. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hi all, I have about 7 years of professional experience but only one year as a Customer Success Manager. I work on mid market accounts currently. I love my job, but would prefer to support a more robust platform that will allow me to add more value for my customers.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on what compensation you might expect for a CSM transitioning to a new company with one year of experience.

To clarify, I don’t have an offer yet, I’m just looking to make a move.

Thank you!

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!
