Is this a real thing? “Traumatized” is pretty extreme. Nonetheless, some ideas:
-Talk them often about what to expect (kids do better with clear expectations)
-Make sure they will be with a known, loving caregiver for those 2 days
-Focus on getting that first interaction (whether in hospital or at home) with the toddler right. General advice is to make sure mom gives the toddler full attention for a bit. Have someone else holding the baby or have baby in bassinet. Start with quality 1:1 time before focusing on introducing them to the new baby.
-Give the toddler a gift “from” their new sibling
