I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve and have been buying flights by transferring my points to the airline partners and buying from said airline’s portal. I both heard and confirmed that the exchange rate for points is a bit better that way generally. However, I just realized that if you buy directly with Chase’s portal, you can get airline miles for the flight you basically get for free and those miles count for status at the airline. Now I don’t know which way to go. Any advice on which is better?

I never ever buy flights from a third party. Way too much potential for something to go awry and then both parties wash their hands of you. It's not worth the extra points. Instead, transfer points to the airline and buy that way.

Both Chase and Amex portals are actually white-labeled Expedia, btw.

I feel like every hotel website I use (Marriott, chase, Hilton, etc) is all the same garbage white labeled product.

Whoever built and sold that site must be making fat stack of cheddar (mr.white).

It’s super variable. You need to compare everything
1. Cash price of the airlines own site
2. Chase portal price
3. Points redemption at airline
4. (If applicable) cash price from your company’s travel site
5. PointsGuy valuation of the miles for a baseline cpp

Often the fare buckets available on the chase portal aren’t the same as what’s there on the airlines site. So your mileage will literally vary

Meh, Chase to BA is good for domestic AA flyers. You have to do these “analysis” every time… takes <5 mins.

Do you think all these violent and hate filled attacks are because people aren't getting the emotional/mental support they need, whether it's therapy at any age or help they needed but didn't get from a social worker as a child? My coworker is sure this is the case, but I honestly think there's actually something deeper wrong either with how these people are being raised as children, or how the warning signs these people give off are ignored or swept under the rug to save face.

-401k at 19500k x 2
-Roth IRA at 6000 x 2
-remaining $7833 x 2 in a brokerage account

Does this look good? Am I missing something? With discipline 2 people can save 1 million in 15 years?
