I have a number of people on my team that have 7-10 vacation days to use before yearend.

How do you manage this when multiple people want the same days off around the holidays? Is first come-first served, seniority, or random draw best? Other ideas?

It’s always been first come, first serve at any company I have worked. . Whomever requests a certain day off first gets its.

There should have been a policy developed well before this if there are a number of people
on your team. I would suggest you determine the minimum amount of manpower needed for each holiday week by the day. This year I’d draw straws and then write and implement a policy beginning 2026 that encompasses all holidays your company recognizes.

I agree. I set expectations with my team at the beginning of every year. Everyone can not be off during the holiday.

My entire department takes off the same days every year but we are responsible for our own work no covering for anyone else.

It’s understood if you take the days you cover your load. If you’re needing someone to cover for you then request days that nobody wants.

We’ve done it this way for several years with no problems.

Probably depends on if you’re in a low level call center type environment too. We are all mid to high level professionals that don’t have phones to answer.

Hi everyone, I had a major surgery and am looking to find a remote position involving anything that isn’t 100% commission based or cold calling/agent positions. I’m willing to try new things and am a very quick learner, and can handle multitasking and high pace. Does anyone know of any good work from home positions?
