I have an upcoming interview. It’s set up with senior leadership of which all are white men. I hate that there is no representation. Makes me feel like this may not be the right place/department for me or that there is no proper representation within senior leadership. It’s very disappointing. I’m going to go into the interview and do my best regardless but i hate that I have this gut feeling of intimidation. Open for any advice or viewpoints to help with my mindset shifting.

Had similar experience recently. I checked all of them on LinkedIn to see how much experience they have and their path to success, that gave me confidence to sell my experience (if that makes sense, lol)

I also checked the team on LinkedIn, they have some people of color in junior positions plus it black person. It really helped that i wasn't desperate to change jobs.

I got the job plus negotiated more total comp. Go get the job, make your way to leadership, you got this

Secretly I did the same! Lol. Thank you so much!

Personally, sounds like they need you more than you need them. You’ve got this!

I kind of feel that way right now, but I spoke to someone of color in a similar section and he told me that I have an opportunity to open a lane for people who look like me. So he said to focus on the fact that you do well enough for your job to get promoted and you are allowing yourself to be seen so that others who look like you can be seen as well

Definitely don’t be afraid to mention it as one of your questions. You don't want to make the mistake of thinking you are there because they see your value and want to change or instead it's just virtue signaling and they will not support you. Remember you are qualified and it you that is deciding if that organization is worthy of you.

We have to be the first we are a minority and you wouldn't believe how much of our youth have no direction. They get jobs just because they aren't black so never feel like you don't belong. My job is the easiest the higher I go. They just don't want us to take it easy

Also, I get along with older white men the most they are way nicer than nonblack women who ignore me and give me dirty looks. Don't assume they are against you.

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? I accepted an offer a week ago with a great company (Company A) that for this season in my life seems like a great fit and only strengthens what I have to offer company B down the road. Company B just sent me a request for interview and I want to keep the door open with Company B but they were just very late in extending an interview.

Need advice! I accepted an offer mid Oct and just found out my new company opened a new role above me at the title I was asking for originally but was told I would move up when they were ready to build out the team. I am over qualified for my role now and already meet the exp of the new role above me. Very salty and feel like they are setting me up to feel stuck before I even start. What do I did?

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.

I was just informed after the third round of interviews they’d like at least 5 references, two must be supervisors. My last job was a temporary remote job where I didn’t really interact with my supervisor and the jobs before that were at my family’s business (I do not speak to any of them for serious personal reasons.) Anything before that was grad school and I haven’t kept in contact with any professors from over five years ago. What should I do? 😕
