Only estradiol and progesterone for transfer. Each 5cc costs about $90 depending on the pharmacy and depending on how much you need it continues for 9 -10 weeks. My dosage for 1 cc so costed me like $1300. You can also ask the doc if suppositories are an option for you vs progesterone on oil.

For TI I did suppositories so I wonder if I can do that again? I will def ask. Anything else I should ask about? Sounds like cost for transfer isn’t as high

Estrogen and progesterone are cheap but my stims were like 16 or 17k. That said I think that's worst case scenario since I was stimming near max dose for 18 days.

Your clinic should be able to give you an estimate for the meds. It won’t be exact but it should be enough info for you to adjust your loan.
Hi again! I think I commented on your first post, I’m proud of you for taking control & moving to IVF! It’s not easy to make that call.
As others have said the stim meds are way more expensive. Transfer not bad at all. For stim meds I did not bother going through insurance because it would have artificially inflated the cost for “insurance provider” versus out of pocket.
I can’t tell you what to do re:loan, but one thing I wish I took to heart - wish I would have considered I might need more than one cycle. The fact that you have already been pregnant is great and you may only need one stim round, but I only got one PGA tested euploid embryo from the first round (despite 23 eggs which turned into 7 blasts - only one passed PGA testing). I was gutted but wish I’d known it was a strong possibility at my age (39). I did a second stim round before I even attempted transfer. Not saying this to scare you, plenty of ppl have one round, but just to temper expectations.
My first transfer was a blighted ovum (miscarriage) so I was very glad to have the three embryos from my second round.
Good luck. Also there are communities where people offload extra meds so something else to look into.
Sending love. You got this.

Thank you again for all your feedback. I feel like I’ve posted 99 times here lol. I remember your feedback from my other post when I was debating which direction
So, I am doing mine through Shady Grove and based on my AMH (1.76) I qualified for their “shared risk program” pricing is dependent on age (ridiculous, but makes sense) cost is 36k but included 6 rounds and unlimited transfers. Fully refundable if I don’t get a live baby from it all. The next one down would have been 25k for 2 rounds, but it didn’t include testing and no money back. While I’m hopeful I will get a baby, there’s never a guarantee do this felt like the right option- which is why I’m still digesting the full cost. 😩 part of my uneasiness is if I should save some dollars and go the 25k route. It’s all a guessing game isn’t it. One round is 15k but live transfer only
It takes extra legwork but if you are cash paying for meds (not through insurance), get quotes from several places and call to ask if there is anything you can do to get them cheaper- there are a couple interchangeable meds, especially on stims that are cheaper or a certain delivery method may be cheaper and I found the pharmacist was a better resource on the cost differential than our clinic (ie autoinject vs manual). Obv check with your clinic before switching, but a lot of those changes won’t have any impact on your outcome. Some pharmacies have cash paying discounts, so make sure you are getting cash quotes vs insurance pricing.
We piece meal ordered our last round from multiple pharmacies to get the best price for each individual med.

Thank you! This is super helpful. I got the full list of meds from my nurse today so was planning to call tomorrow. She also told me to ask for discounts
Are you doing a fresh or frozen? Frozen transfer meds will be vastly different than retrieval with fresh transfer.
Frozen is definitely cheaper bc you already went through retrieval which is where the money comes from with all the meds
Transfer isn’t as expensive as ivf cocktail. But yeah, people can go into debt pursuing the family dream.
Hey OP, sharing if helpful but if you are paying OOP for stims meditation encompassRX was about $3000 in total per round. They are good and responsive!

I also read a tip recently to get the 300mg dose Folistim, because they overfill the vials. That means you get closer to 350-400 per vial. The injection pen stops when the vial is empty, so you just refill, put on a fresh needle tip and finish the injection. I tried it this last round and have 4 extra doses left
