R u the same guy who posted about VP promotion?
Nope
Same here, been with for 1.5 years now and working in legacy projects with no proper work in development
Which team is this ?? Here I have so much stress that I get panic attacks and had to be taken to hospital once because of it. 😬
Not lying ! I thought Barclays in general is like that but this post surprises me.
Switch in these companies ...Citi, hsbc ,Deutsche, JP morgan , Google, ubs , CS, WD ...these many banks will pay you above ur range.
Try in Lloyds Technology Centre
They will release your offer letter in next year. hahahaha
Finally someone said it. Every word of yours is true and on top of it , there are not enough projects with a good tech stack. I have been trying in IJP for the last 3-4 months and did not see enough openings. I am not saying it's a bad organisation at all , but the growth from tech perspective is pretty slow, even compared to other banks as well. Legacy projects all around and no real development work. I have hardly written 1000 lines of code in last 1 year(I am full stack dev 5+ years experienced). Any work that might have added some value is done in onshore . Rest is coming to Pune. People are good and they are helpful in whatever way they can. But that's pretty much about it, no tech values added. No cloud native approach in most of the projects.
I have started to look for a switch as well, just thinking shall I wait for the hike and bonus in the next couple of months or leave now.
This comment is not to demotivate anyone. Just my own PoV. Nevertheless, it's a great organisation to be in, just that understand your roles and responsibilities before you join and don't get disappointed later.
Buddy, I know complaining doesn't help. But what I am saying is all facts. It's my 3rd Organisation as a Dev so I have a pretty good idea what to expect and what to contribute as a Dev. I can go in depth about the difference between Software Engineering and System Engineering , but don't want to. Obviously it's necessary to be open to do every sort of work for the team and have been doing that for the past one year . I don't know about your definition of Application Development but I am sure it involves system design and development and test and a lot more of SDLC. When your project does not help you to grow technically or functionally, these sorts of posts are supposed to be there. Again , I am not saying every project is bad . Maybe I got in the wrong boat and may be that's why more than two people left working a year each in the last 3 years and I am the latest replacement. All the best.
Good decision bro. Best of luck for job hunting.
All captives are working in legacy tech stack.
90% of the project are legacy because of compliance etc. You cannot compare banks with any tech company.
In banks if customer is not impacted they are good with legacy system too.
DBS is an exception, they work on really good tech stack and migrate when needed
Stack?
