No, they told you you’d be doing commercial litigation/employment and then they’re going to drop a bunch of ID work on you. It’s an ID sweatshop pretending to be biglaw. Will not help you advance your career in a meaningful way if you want to get out of ID.
Tons of shareholder work I bet
It is commercial litigation in that you will be representing insureds who procured their insurance policies from a commercial entity.
Also, when they extended me an offer, it was contingent upon me signing a confidential arbitration agreement. Super sleazy.
Okay yeah that is sleazy wtf. And LOL at their version of “commercial litigation”. Definitely having my doubts now.
Which market would you be in?
NY/NJ market
This post saved me tons of time. Thank you OP. No application for me. No response to the recruiter on this one.
They are big on ID, low on pay. Surprising on both accounts for a biglaw.
LP1 what’s your point?
I’m really not interested in insurance defense work lol it seems a bit boring, tons of red tape, and a lot of people on here are desperately looking for a way out of it. I really hope it’s not a bait and switch thing. I’d be in the NY/NJ market if that helps.
Are salaries at Gordon Rees impressive at least?
No. $140k is the highest I could negotiate in PA market 2015 YOE. 1750 min 2000 expected.
