Early mornings became my best friend once I had kids. Managing to put 2 to 3 hrs of work Sat and Sun before they are awake means that I get to spend more time with them during the day.

If I were required to go to the office on Sat, I am 100% sure that I would just quit. My family comes first. I am so grateful for our flexibility of working from home.

I do the same! I am up at 5a working before we get our day started. It’s the only way I manage.

Sorry to hear that EY1. Whenever you have had enough, Crowe and others will probably welcome you with open arms. We hire a lot of experienced employees from B4.

How do you make that work? I tend to stay super late when I can, then my sleep schedule is way off. Just discipline? Make yourself do it?

like

It takes time, but get yourself to bed earlier and wake up early no matter what. Is just building a habit.

I used this to study for CPA and now with work. Off busy season, I wake up early and clean the house, so by 7 or 8, I feel like I accomplished a lot.

Glad you guys have that option! EY makes family life impossible

well, good night sleep is essential in this formula... take care of yourself to take care of others, go to doctors to make sure you are sleeping well (sleeping doctors), and be smart with your time. As you progress on the career you do more and more stuff, and thats because you learn how to manage better (only one of the reasons) not because you have more time

How late are your kids sleeping? Mine are up by 530 so no early morning working before they get up unfortunately.

Anyway, I am looking for something that can be done remotely on nights and weekends after I get home from my daily in-office job. My sister passed away & I’m now helping raise her kids. With Christmas coming, I’m nervous and dreading the season not only to not have her but will I make it a happy one for the kids. I need extra income but need to be home with them in the evenings.

My partner of 5 years ended our relationship last night. I’m shattered and feel absolutely sick, and I know the healing isn’t going to be easy. We were on the verge of an engagement and I was ready to spend the rest of my life with him.

I don’t know how to approach work during this time. I think I can get by, but I’m definitely not 100%. Should I talk to my boss about it? My team is close-knit and comfortable around each other, but I don’t know if it’s “appropriate.” What would you do?

Do you share details about raises/bonuses/other financial gains with friends or do you keep it to yourself? I have a few friends who will tell me everything from how much money they make to how much their husband spent on them for their bdays to how much their parents make?? My SO adds very little to our relationship. She has a dead end job. I cook. I work. I oversee finances. I plan trips. She doesn’t have a voice in the relationship. I’ve asked her to give her perspective but she always defaults to mine bc she thinks I’m smarter/worldly. She feels intimated by me and my social circle. Lately, I’ve found myself thinking for her. Anticipating her wants and needs and then adjusting my behavior to meet them. Which she appreciates but it’s frustrating 29M 27F

Does anyone share the feeling of wanting more lawyer friends in their circle? Sometimes it’s nice to talk about anything besides the law and work; yet, other times, I crave talking to people who share similar experiences and can bounce case ideas and strategy, vent about opposing counsel and Judges, etc...you know, people who just “get it”.
