There always seem to be a lot of mentions of recruiters canceling interviews or just ghosting people. It's become so common that you really have to wonder what's happening. I assume it's something to do with them just contacting a huge number of people at the outset and then winnowing down the numbers in the clumsiest way possible.
Sometimes you wonder if they know what they are doing. I am very well qualified and have had recruiters tell me I am not qualified, I know then they have nobidea what they are doing.
I'm not familiar with your area so I don't know the answer to this question, but do you HAVE to go through a recruiter? If you know the Cleveland Clinic and others are understaffed and looking, can you not apply directly to their HR departments? Recruiters seem to be appointing themselves as the only experts in head-hunting, and putting themselves on a pedestal that they haven't earned. No recruiter knows what the Cleveland Clinic needs in a new staff member as well as the Clinic HR employees know what is needed.

That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially when you know how understaffed they are. Recruiter cancellations could stem from internal changes, scheduling issues, or shifts in hiring needs. I’d recommend reaching out directly to the recruiters or the Cleveland Clinic's HR to seek clarity and next steps. Hang in there—your experience deserves a fair shot!
I am looking for a per diem side gig and I have the same issue! Posted jobs with no responses, or generic robot created responses without much rhyme or reason about a good fit. It’s a bit scary as I know I am an excellent NP with over a decade of experience and I am specialized…something is amiss!
I feel the same way! I have over 20 years of nursing supervision experience, and I KNOW that I am very qualified for the positions I’m applying foR ( MSN, MBA) I’m getting a complex! It is frustrating!!🤯😡
I have even begun to wonder if there is some foul at hand! (as much as I know, I have been quite friendly with everyone I’ve worked with, but some people have/do hold grudges.🤷♀️) and that is a terrible way for me to feel! I have been thinking of calling HR personally to find out why they are not calling me!
At a few places, I have made it through several telephone interviews, then in person interviews… I am over 40 and wonder if my age is a deterrent? I am in school for FNP, which I don’t usually put in my application or disclose with potential employers… because I don’t want them to think they will hire me & then I will quit, because what I would LIKE to do is get started at a good organization and then transfer as mid-level provider. I have even considered getting some coaching, if it would help!
* I know that doesn’t help much, except to let you know that you’re NOT the only one feeling like that!
GOOD LUCK, YOU DESERVE THE JOB!
AND IF ANYONE ELSE IS GOING THROUGH THIS, ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
Wow. I am so sorry to hear that as it is so unprofessional. I honestly feel like recruiters are making places look so bad these days because they are so bad about ghosting candidates. If I were you I would try to call them and see if you can speak to the hiring manager for that role.
