I have my first trial coming up and I want to buy a nice, reasonably priced, fitted women’s suit. Any suggestions?? Thank you in advance.

Ann Taylor! Especially if you’re looking for petite (and I’ve heard their tall section is decent too), their suits fit well with no to minimum adjustments.

Ann Taylor is good for petite, curvy (hourglass) women too. Fits great off the shelf with no tailoring.

I think Ted Baker makes beautiful dress suits if you would like to go that route!

And Theory also makes some timeless basic suits as well in navy, charcoal, black that are suitable for trial

Damnit. Now I need an excuse to wear a dress suit. (I’m fully WFH.)

Suistudio. The off the shelf tailoring is pretty good and if you find pieces that fit well, you can get away with not taking it to a tailor. If you live near Nordstrom, they usually carry it. I think (in general) they are limited to pant suits though.

Banana Republic. Even if it’s your 50th trial. I’m on jury trial 43 between my black and navy BR suits and have only lost 2! Long ago lost track of the bench trials those girls have won me!

Express best for the budget with multiples in size/style/silhouette

I highly recommend Talbots. They’re relatively affordable, are always running sales/promos, and are easy to mix and match. I always get my suits tailored so I’m less concerned with it off the rack.

Theory. Most flattering suit on the market by far.
