I think you need to sell yourself as extremely personable and easy to work with. Honestly I’ve gotten way further in BigLaw because of my big personality (and I’m a woman if that means anything) than my actual skill set. People trust in me because I work hard but also am chill to work with and play super nice in the sandbox while still standing ground and not letting people push me around. It’s a delicate line to balance but the people that are able to walk that line end up in leadership positions. I already have the backing of rainmaker partners and am a couple of years away from partnership. So … exude confidence and a bit of humor in interviews, sell yourself as a team player and say you’d love to help grow their practice by developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and delivering top tier work product.
Wow, very inspiring, thanks!
