Send me your email address. I have a ton of stuff to share.
Can you share with me too? I have been teaching for 25 years in private and now transitioned to public and we are using envision and I want to Change things up!
We begin with a posted Target aligned with a standard. S read the problem & take a minute to think about solving. We use playing cards passed out for random groups. Groups move to vertical work spaces to solve T walks to group’s & questions or observes. 10 min. During this note points to bring out. Then T uses S work to model or question students to standard. Variations… partners or groups at desks same process. Take pics & finish as b4 with google sludes
That does not sound fun at all. Linking a game to a standard = buzzkill. But, I can see your state and district mandating you do that for sure. Luckily my district went away years ago from that standard crap. Kids don't care, and admin just want to see it on the board. I bet you could put up a phony standard and leave it up all year.
I created a Jeopardy-like game for test review. I split the class into two teams and they were allowed to work together for each question. One member picked a category and point value and that person had to be the one to give the final answer. They had white boards to work out the problem and give their answer. The first team to give the correct answer earned the points. This was for my first period class and I needed a way to get them to wake up and participate. I shamlessly bribed them with donuts for the winner. 😁🍩
I was very proud of my categories....they were very pun-y. I had "Factor-y Jobs" for factoring quadratic expressions, "Assembly Line" for changing from factored to expanded form, and "It's Hip To Be A Square" for recognizing perfect squares. The kids really enjoyed it and actually did better on that test than any other.
