What has been the best lesson you’ve ever taught?

Any suggestions or ideas on working with teachers who are less than enthusiastic about utilizing technology as a means to bring “more” to their lessons?

I taught the math lesson so abominably that the vice principal (who was observing at the back of the classroom) took over my lesson. How do you recover after a terrible day at work?

High school special class (self-contained) teachers: What do you use for planning? I’ve always been an inclusive teacher, so I followed the plan book of my co-teacher. I can’t even decide if I should go digital or paper-based let alone make a final decision! I’ll be teaching 9-11th grade math and 11th grade science. The 11th grade classes I can very much do whatever I (or the student) want/need…there isn’t a set curriculum

SOS I’m a first year teacher. I’m at a VERY challenging school district & a different culture than I’ve ever been around before. I cant get through a full day’s lesson! I spend more time disciplining!

Flew out the morning of a big client pitch instead of the night before. Massive storm delayed my flight and I missed the meeting. Lesson learned fam- always fly out the night before!

How do you best support your students who do not speak English? I have four ELL’s in my 6th grade ELA class and they don’t receive push-in or pull-out Bilingual support during my class. Do you pull them for small group to provide instruction separately or do you just try to use google translate to translate your lessons and the work? Any best practices? I’d love some help.

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Taking some golf lessons, got a women’s starter set I got to make sure I liked golf first. Instructor mentioned that the driver is like swinging a wet noodle for me lol and I should look into a men’s or one with stiffer flex. I have no idea what to look for. Are the people at Dicks Sporting Goods knowledgeable or worth driving the 40 min to PGA store?

Is our industry as competitive as some say? I see a lot of people saying this and I work with a bunch of hacks (myself included). It felt like a little while ago agencies were begging to hire new talent, and most couldn’t find new people. Is it really that hard to get a job at an agency? My kids got the one-paragraph responses down pack. We use C-E-R like our ELA and Science counter-parts. Can anyone share a resource for teaching extended responses? Need a structure similar to CER to teach 3 paragraph responses to social studies document based questions. (Been trying to find one for 8years)

What should incoming high school freshman be able to do? For example, write complete sentences, construct essays, etc. I’m a social studies teacher and my students each year are getting lower & lower.
