I interviewed for a non-technical role at Google a month ago, got rejected (after 6 week wait) but was told I did very well and they instead referring me to another position in gTech org as a Mobile UX specialist, as an individual contributor role in the professional services org. For context, I work at a Tier 3 consulting firm right now, about 45-50 hours a week on average, $160k TC. When we discussed salary ranges my current TC seemed a stretch for this role. Would you bother proceeding?

What level are you interviewing at G? What other considerations aside from comp increase do you have for job switch?

like

I did some searching on LinkedIn to see what the career progression is for ppl once they get into non-technical roles at Google. It seems they just stay at similar levels but jump around to diff parts of the org.

It makes me wonder if promotions are rare at Google which also makes me wonder if compensation growth is slow after I join.

As in, would I learn and make more staying in consulting vs. moving to Google. I prefer to stay in the role that can offer me more growth in a shorter span of time... And $ obvs...

More context. I'm 10 YOE in HCOL location.

Do you know which level did they offer? L4 or L5? 160k base would be a stretch for L4, but TC in L4 can easily been 200k. I would proceed.

I hope it's L4! But thanks for this info!! I wasn't sure if the hesitancy I heard in the recruiters voice meant that they wouldn't be able to even match my current salary, which would be disappointing.

I work at Google Cloud in solutions engineering (I help develop quantitative business cases with sales teams for customers). My cash base + bonus is $220k (going to ignore equity). I have an MBA from the University of Chicago, not that it matters much in sales. I have always been in a consulting role but I think I can make more in sales. I have a competitive personality and I am bored.

Working as CAL Manager with Accenture S&C India. Offered ~GBP 76.5K (fixed plus flexi) at Manager Grade by Deloitte London.

Prior to Accenture, I have already served as S&O Manager with Deloitte India for ~1.5 yrs - so this would be my second stint with Deloitte as Manager "again".

2 questions:
1. Should I ask for Senior Mgr (AD) grade - to which they have already said NO
2. Is GBP 76.5K sitting at the lower end of M grade in Deloitte UK? What should be a good expectation for the role
