This is a good way to start the morning, REVIL is a vicious group, so any headway in the disruption of their business is good and may lead to more arrests from the evidence recovered.
Great way to partner and make the world a little safer.

This post is sad on so many levels..
@OP you are kind of embarrassing us with this post 🤦🏽♀️
I’m 33 and a senior EM. Should I just quit now that I’m a senior citizen and life is basically over
Just did a career restart as an EM at 31 after already consulting for 9 years. I definitely do feel old since most EMs here tend to be 24 to 26
1. Yes you should always praise Christ 2. Of course go to church more 3. Cut this 2 year bs weakling attitude out asap, You can definitely do it in 1 yr. Prayers.

I have done my research and found historical proof that the earth is flat!
Hey buddy. Have been in your shoes 6 months ago at Bain - was passed on promotion and just made it now. Feels painful, I totally get it.
What saved me was (1) look for a partner job elsewhere (I secured two offers from T2 which was a big confidence booster); (2) remove entirely the pressure off your shoulders (it’s done now, you’ve ‘failed’ and there is no point beating yourself up — life goes on, and you have many more years of career ahead of you); (3) build a solid routine to remove stress (for me it’s been 2h at the gym every day). Also talk to people - people on the committee, partners you work with. Get their advice and guidance, understand (*genuinely*) why you didn’t make it, what you need to demonstrate, and which partners have your back and commit to make you succeed.
You’ve made it really far, you’re almost there — and wouldn’t have survived until AP at MBB if you were not great.
All of them do — I’ve had leads with EYP, S&, LEK, OW, etc.
Well, I'm a mid-40s second year AP who didn't go to PCEC this year. That's it, I guess my life is over. It's been real folks.
OP, sorry to be snide, and sure we could chat without the snark in person. But, hang in there - know this job can be brutal and we can set expectations high. Age is a number, you're financially quite well off compared to most, and two years (even in brutal McK time) is not that long - with not that much opoortunity cost in the grand scheme of things. You'll always have decent options. Feel free to explore options, and please share if you find something better. Best of luck.
Thanks mang
I started as associate at 35 and made partner at 41
This is not about age
If you like what you are doing stay on; if you don’t and think you will be happier somewhere else, you should go there
Just so that you know it does not get easier
M5 - tangent question - What is your work life balance like?
Why will it take 2 election cycles? Can’t you do that next year?
Data point - left on the cusp of getting elected MDP (Partner equivalent). Joined Vertex as a VP. Started with $1M. 3 years later I got promoted to SVP. Now making 1.5M with no travel and 40 hours a week. There’s life after consulting.
Seems high but yes, congrats
it’s literally a job… why do you want to be partner so bad? explore opps as it costs you nothing
As hard as OP has probably worked to get here, it is absolutely not just a job
Next year I could make it but they say it typically takes two at bats in front of the pcec to secure election. Which is why I think 2 years is realistic.
P1 - we don’t have a single senior partner sponsor. We need multiple - typically 5+
Aren’t exit opps better before you hit MD, they are pretty limited after that
C-suite exists are generally for those with quite a bit of YOE as partner though. And the best C-suite exits are few and far between and come after 15+ YOE as partner
I have a friend at Mck who’s 41 years old and just got promoted to EM. Everyone’s life journey is different.
Enthusiast
37 and still asking these questions. What has McK done to you? 😒
No! You are done! You are a failure and your life has no meaning!
Back to work!
My team mate is a 37 year old first year associate. Why does age matter here? Does life or your career end at 40 ?
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
OP - shouldn’t you ask your sponsors and mentors? And most importantly ask yourself why you want to be a partner.
I didn’t go to PCEC when I expected and I was broken (so I can relate to what you must be feeling), then I said screw it and changed more than 50% people on my exposure matrix and made it next year.
Ow1 - the P and SPs that you have worked with that can “vouch” for you
Wtf does age have to do with it
Coach
Yeah what is it mandatory retirement 62 at pwc?
OP - I have been mentoring and coaching many APs. Some are nominated in this cycle (which is great) and some are not (I am bummed by that). I am happy to chat with you and talk it through. For context - my AP to P journey was long and painful so hopefully I can provide you some pointers. And I agree with many folks on this thread that this is not about age.
Is it worth exploring the market to see what kind of opportunities are out there for your experience level? I think only then will you have the information you need to make a decision. As an older person moving into consulting I feel I may be in a very similar position in a few years..

Do whatever you like my friend. Your finances should be recession-proof by now.
Nothing is stopping you from doing both. Throw your hat into the passive applicant pool, evaluate offers and compare. I was in similar position, ended up happier with an industry offer.
