Those who moved or are considering moving from a Big 4’s Cybersecurity practice to Industry, what roles/teams did/would you move into?

Wish I had more time for intellectual pursuits. I love doing deals but sometimes I just wanna sit at a cafe and read.

I’m so miserable every day is painful. I want to go tell pre-law school me it’s not worth the debt because you will hate this career and then feel trapped by the debt. And then I want to come back to present day, quit this life-leeching, soul-sucking job and start over doing something else entirely. Too much? Oh well. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I’m 30, should I consider joining S& Middle East as Senior Associate in attempt to make Manager and leave? Is it too exhausting? Will I burn out before I get there? And how long to Manager?

First year associate thinking about making the just from medium sized reputable IP firm to In House. Started at said firm summer of 1L year as a law clerk/patent agent in May 2019, have worked through school and full time as associate since Sept 2021. Feeling very “stuck” in day to day work. Love the patent/IP space but drafting and pros w/minimal human interaction is getting very difficult. Thinking In House would be better, but not sure how much experience needed. Thoughts?

Am I crazy? Currently interviewing at LEK, Oliver Wyman, and Deloitte strat for (essentially) entry level positions after working in biz dev at Microsoft for under a year. I’d basically be trading my WLB for away for the same salary I make here, but I feel like I’ll learn way more in consulting and be a more well rounded person. Am I the only one who is happy I got into IT?

As a first time PM at a company with no PM structure, I’m finding it difficult to learn good practices and bring myself to “the next level”. Has anyone here had a similar self taught start that made the break through to become a solid senior PM? Anything will help, books, etc.

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

I’m a designer in the planning/landscape architecture dept. of a CE firm. Extremely frustrated that after 4+ years and multiple asks, I’m not getting the in-field construction experience I’ve asked for. I know that my designs could be better if I could see how things are actually built but I get slapped in the face with “I need you in the office designing/drafting” or “there’s no budget to have you go out” and then sends an intern to inspect instead. I’m 5 yrs out of college. Any advice?

Hi All, just sharing what on mind to vent it out from my system. Maybe with this I could gain some insights and inspiration.
I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. Who knew interviews are a whole different process on its own. Very exhausting, answering lots of questions and thinking. I’m completely done with 2022 interviews. These interviews are just mhmmmm.

Exited M level consulting for a f500 D role in the $250-$300 range. Early 30s now - comp seems relatively standard for that level and YOE.

Can someone explain the difference between FB’s Partner Solutions Manager and the Strategic Partner Manager? From an initial recruiter call, it seems the SPM provides the consultative product recs while the PSM onboards the client onto that product and tracks performance to provide actionable recs as needed. Anyone know career growth and salary for these two? I don’t want a sales heavy/only lateral growth role like their client solutions manager roles so these seem like good compromises?
