I just got an invite to a 45 minute interview tomorrow from a recruiting firm that's looking to fill a tech position for an MSP client. The job description is awesome and will allow me to grow from entry level tech support to an IT analyst however I haven't worked on many technologies that are mentioned on the job description in my previous role. How can I prepare for this 45 minute interview?

If this is a new area, I’d for sure work through STAR answers where you’ve had to learn something technical on the job. Also obviously have your “tell me about yourself” clean in telling why you’re 1) leaving your current industry and 2) know you could add great stuff to their team. And generally research the company history to the extent possible.

Thank You

I’m in a similar situation. What I do is research the company and try find out what are their objectives or goals. Based on their objectives, I can figure out what can I bring to the table.
Good luck.

I feel that former employer might have slandered my reputation. Almost a year ago, I had accepted a physical therapist position with the VA and all was going well until I get a call from their HR department saying that they had to rescind the offer due to something that came up in my background. Never been arrested or have any legal complaints filed against me. VA said I’d have to file a FOIA request. Which meant all the info was blacked out when I got the info I requested. What do I do?????

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

Theoretical question : Let's say you come up with an innovative idea for a completely new product for your client. The product is a perfect fit for your client. Has anyone ever seen something like this actually happen? What would be the result/rewards for you as a consultant?

Do you look desperate if you apply to several jobs within the same company? I was recently rejected for a job I REALLY wanted at a well known tech company. But will I just look too desperate to their in-house talent team to be considered?

One thing I like about my firm is that, if your intern sucks? You can just say they suck and they’ll get pulled off your job so you can focus on being efficient. I put considerable effort into 1: he’s never available, never finishes anything, never takes notes, doesn’t follow through on communication ever, zero initiative, and refuses to talk to anyone except 1 staff associate even when specifically directed otherwise. I can’t push pull or drag him if I tried (and I did). I don’t feel bad.

I’m perusing a TPM role (faang/fortune50) and getting through SD and PM interviews just fine.
I’ve prepared at least 50 retrospective star stories but without fail, the interviewer always throws a curve ball. As an introvert, I am introspective in my problem solving and struggle to quickly adapt my prepared stories when the interviewer is being intentionally ambiguous.
