I just had an oddly surreal experience in applying for a position in my state,accepting their offer letter, almost forgetting about them until yesterday when I saw an onboarding email link from them which I promptly completed. I saw reference to an Open House event next week at an address in my city. I found the location of the office via navigation. Met the office manager,politely I'D myself and explained the email that got me there.
Just now I got an email WITHDRAWING the offer..WTH?

For in-house counsel roles, does firm prestige matter? For example, would the fact that an applicant is from Sullivan & Cromwell vs, say, White & Case matter at all, or is it much more about experience/interview? Does it matter as much as law school credentials? Assuming a mid-level corporate associate seeking to go in-house.

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

I am actively looking for a change from Academia researcher to industry. I get job interviews in a big company. It has been in the 4 rounds for technical interviews talking to hiring manager, her peer, her boss. Yesterday was the 5th round talking to the HR director. I thought it was to negotiate salary. But it was just an conversation talking about who am I, career goals, questions etc. What is the point of this conversation? Will this impact the overall result? Anyone experienced this?
