Just go for it
I’m sure if you keep waiting and complaining, some amazing opportunity will just show up at your doorstep
all love I truly wish you the best in your next role
Damn, thats crazy
This took me out 💀
Think things through. I left my consulting job for a relatively relaxed job and now miss the learning curve.
There aren’t many roles apart from consulting that teach you things in such a quick time. I’d say take things easily and develop a tough skin, no one’s firing you
Oh for sure agree with you! My goal is to move within consulting but a bigger firm..
I’m in a similar boat. I have no interests in the projects I get put on, and I feel like I’m not growing. What’s mostly stopping me is that I’m scared it’ll look bad if I just left when applying to other jobs
@Consultant 1 It’s a country thing.. France follows it
Do it!
Who do you work for?
Replied in the comments
Where do you work? 👀
Hahaha nothing fancy. Had to leave because of some health related reasons. I’m working with a much much smaller firm that wants to establish its pharmaceutical manufacturing across the Middle East and Europe. The firm size of very small compared to whatever you guys think. I just wanted to actually work with building business for a year and also take care of my health before I pivot back to consulting
Literally am in the same boat
Life's too short to do what you hate! Seriously, I would start applying elsewhere as much as possible. What types of roles are you interested in?
I agree, actively applying for consulting roles.. still love the fast-paced learning journey consulting can offer, but just need to move to a bigger firm…
That’s crazy! You should quit!
What kind of consulting do you do?
CDD
I’m in the same boat! I want another job asap.
Honestly if you’re just not loving it be a bad consultant - no joke, the salary is worth staying for but just don’t put all your time and effort into being a great consultant. Skate by, collect a paycheck, and lay the foundation to find a job that you actually want to be at.
It seems like a silly answer to disliking your job, but I’ve talked to so many friends who hate their positions and are ready to quit - but also feel the need to be great at their jobs bc they’ve been conditioned to do something well or not at all their whole lives. Of course, if the job is treating you so badly that it’s taking a toll on your mental health/ability to look for a new job, leave. But if it’s just not what you see for yourself, stay and be mediocre for a while.
Takes time and effort to not give a shit - but I think everyone naturally believes that other people are paying WAY more attention to their quality of work than people actually are. We’re all smart and successful and not used to giving any less than 100% so doing so usually makes us feel like someone will notice if we don’t give everything our all…realistically if you dial back little by little and work to shift your mindset that the work you do here doesn’t need to take all your mental energy, no one will notice and by the time they might you will have left
Please note that even in bigger firms. They can trap and silo you onto projects you dont want. It's one if the reasons I want to leave kpmg.
Agreed, it’s never great anywhere.. always gonna be something or the other right.. But atleast a bigger firm name = better exit ops ..
