Networking can feel discouraging when it seems one-sided, but it really does work best when it’s less about asking for a job and more about building relationships. Instead of just sharing your resume, try asking people specific, genuine questions about their role or company—it shows interest without pressure. That’s how my brother finally broke through; he connected with a job search specialist who coached him on outreach and positioning, and it made a big difference. If you’d like tailored support, you can reach out to him at georgerobinsonhiringteam . gmail . com
I think the key to networking is to just stay in touch with people over time, even when you're not looking for anything. In other words, if you see something that someone may find interesting, send it along. Or invite people to events. Or just meet up for lunch. A network is not like a phone book you can pull out only when you need it, you have to cultivate it to have it be worthwhile. And the cultivating isn't difficult, it's mostly just down to being personable and staying in touch.
Listen and when they talk about connections they have that do x,y,z politely ask them to connect you. When I’m networking my goal is always to understand if any opportunities that the person can help with (I.e. are their open roles they can refer you to? Need to research) AND get your next coffee connection.
Can you send me a DM, I can help you out
