McKinsey & Company I did my final round with McKinsey today, and I I received a rejection call from the partner today. However, he said I did really great and wants to keep in touch with me. Thoughts on a Omega De Ville Prestige as a first luxury watch? Would be ~$7.5K USD at retail. Some friends have said great things about Omega as a starter, whereas others say it’s not worth it over a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (which would be similar in cost).
I personally love how clean the design is, the use of gold, and the thinner band as it links the watch … find the Rolex band design to be too chunky.

I personally haven’t had bad experiences with private sellers. Just ask lots of questions including service history, about any damage (and/or further photos) and anything else you’d like to clarify. Good to ask why they’re selling too. At the end of the day, it’s no different to buying a car from a private seller, with the exception that you aren’t physically seeing the watch. I believe the escrow payment model is applicable to any watch bought on Chrono24.
Most private sellers are very understanding and happy to answer questions given it’s such a big purchase. The ones that aren’t understanding or are overly pushy are the ones you’ll get a bad vibe from and will shy away from.

If you have access to a watchmaker who can help you verify authenticity and condition, then you should’ve fine.
But if not?
Are you okay with a 20% chance of outright losing all of your money because it was a scam or because it was a superclone or even if it had been dropped a few times?
What about 10%? How about 5%?
If you find you’re uncomfortable with this idea even if it’s something as low as 2%, then buying from a private seller isn’t for you.
