Why are town Hall meetings so impersonal? They are all about awards / the number of people hired. I know FCB health is large, but we never hear from people who aren’t Executives. Last town hall, when discussing inclusion efforts, there were no people of color represented and one of the 4 pillars of diversity was centered around our “reputation as an organization” (that really rubbed me the wrong way). At my last agency those conversations were always led by people of color from every level.

As a male supervisor, should I refer to my two female paralegals as “hey guys” or “hey ladies”? English is not my first language and woke is really making it difficult for me.

So it’s been a month since we all started talking about diversity in the ad business more with some focus. Has anyone seen any real progress from their employer? (Policy, pro bono work, programs, hiring etc). Genuinely curious as my agency is treading water.

How much do adcoms really care about candidates who are first gen college students coming from poor URM backgrounds? I wrote about it in my essays because that experience impacted me heavily, but I guess I can't keep shake being skeptical because nobody gave a damn all of my life. I feel like they may care and it may have a material impact on admissions chances, but only insofar as they can check a diversity box. Am I just salty? Is it just me or does Highdive only hire male copywriters/CDs? The diversity on their creative team is 1. Very whitewashed and 2. Extremely male dominant. Sad to see.

Lots of right wing hysteria about liberals trying to engineer equality of outcome to correct sexual/racial inequities (in higher ed, for example). I think we all want socioeconomic, gender and racial barriers to opportunities to be addressed, but no significant number of people really believe in equality of outcome right? This is just a straw man argument.
