I left the agency work for a few years and then returned. At what point did media planning become 80% financial management and 0% expected interaction with the vendor community? Why am I looked at as if I have 4 eyes when I ask the 20 somethings to set up meetings with more vendors? Is this just a large agency trait? In my “older” years (44 - which is ancient at my agency), do I need to find a smaller full service agency? Are clients really paying us to manage billings in excel?

My Redfin agent recently quit with one day notice to start his own firm. He was the one behind my deal and did a lot of work and help with negotiation. However Redfin called me and said they put their top regional lead on transaction which is set to close in 10 days. I’m conflicted with what to do. As a buyer I know I can switch firms with seller’s consent and it won’t impact the deal, or will it? The agent said if I went with him he’s throw me an additional incentive to close with him.

I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions?
