I made an offer 45k more than the listing price in NY because my agent informed the seller had multiple competive offers. Today, a week later, I saw the listing price increase by $50k. Does that mean had i bid 50k I stand a chance of having the offer accepted? Or is the selling agent guaging the price out?

Is it marked as pending? Has your realtor still not heard back on your offer?
Assuming they accepted another offer it was likely $50k higher and they adjusted the listing price to indicate that backup offers would need to at least meet that number.

Considering I paid $135k over list for my house, doesn’t sound to bad haha. But it is kinda scumy they did that to ya. Raising the price means they think it’s worth even more bc why risk losing a sale over 5k?

Yeah for sure. In my area definitely. Thought the place was undervaluedfor sure. Others were going about what I paid for and I still think I got a good value overall.

My guess is that multiple competitive offers were right around 50k, so now they are raising that to the new baseline

If I'm adding multiple people to purchase a property but not on the mortgage, when do they get added - do they need to already be on the purchase agreement? We just moved into a 50 year old house. We got the popcorn ceiling removed in the garage plus had the walls done. We didn’t use an official asbestos expert because of the price.

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

How easy is it to get a mortgage for the second home?
