Have an opportunity to relocate to Paris (non-EU citizen). Looking at the taxes now, are there ways to reduce taxes for non-citizens?
Hello Fishes, Can someone please refer me to the job opening that hsbc has. Checked on LinkedIn.
Will send a link to the opening.
Let me know. Thanks in advance.
I passed up work tickets to Elton John on Tuesday (so somebody else could go). And then I didn't follow through on my bank up plan to just buy a cheap seat and go to the Wednesday show.
Every Elton John song I've heard in the last three days has nearly brought me to tears! Can't believe I let that opportunity pass me by!
Posting this for one of my friend . He has got total 11.5yrs exp. 7years with ETL Development, 2yrs as BA and 2yrs as Product Owner. What would be the ideal salary to be negotiated with TCS Bangalore ?

Anyone recently had issues with home appraisal for mortgage? Recently bought a place and now getting a bit anxious
What are the best 529 plans out there? Fully realize there are tax benefits to going with in state option, but this consideration aside, wanted to check with this group on top options.
When to follow up after phone screen? Phone screen on 10/15 went well and they said they will reach out to me regarding a formal interview. They did warn me that their HR is very very slow. Just want to make sure they don’t forget about me.
Best way to prep for an Amazon interview?
Pretty new to investing. Can someone please explain what a SPAC is? And the difference b/w a SPAC and a VC?
What did you say the reason for leaving when you gave notice? First time resigning from a job that under paid me and overused me .. but don’t want to say that!
Does anyone know how long it takes for Fisher & Phillips to get back to you after doing the formal interviews?
Going to be going solo soon and wondering how do you keep track of your time? Any suggestions for docketing timers or apps?
Fairly recently divorced and feeling the financial pinch of having one income. Unfortunately my salary is not in the 6 figures. I am afraid I need a second job (part-time). Is anyone else in a similar situation? What part-time job did you find or recommend?
Do companies typically reach out to you after finishing the interview process or is it more common to never hear anything again? I feel like the professional thing to do is to let everyone know they’re moving forward with another candidate but no one seems to do that.
Is there an Accenture DC holiday party?

HELP! I’ve been contacted by a small private security firm who wants me to be their “on call” counsel. They describe it as a lot of contract review, drafting NDAs, etc. but also being there if/when they need to license a vehicle, defend civil suit, etc. It’s overwhelming but sounds like a really great opportunity. I have enough background to be comfortable with contracts and litigation, but don’t want to get myself into a mess. Has anybody else ever had a job like this?
When will I find my passion? I’m a criminal prosecutor chasing PSLF (5 years left). I am just not that into it. My wife is a teacher and loves her job so much she could work 16 hour days. I am jealous. My passion is my family and my job is just a paycheck. How can I figure out what I really want to do? Do I want to get that obsessed with work? Help!
What’s your fave app to play when you take a break (or get distracted...) during the work day? I love Trivia Crack.
Nothing like the named partner who you *know* is actively opposed to associate salary increases (despite living in a market where the COL has significantly risen and outpaced general inflation) telling you about how annoying it is to winterize her 4 mega luxury sailboats she has on her waterfront dock. 🙄
Trying to make the move to in house but most of my career has been litigation in various areas of law. I am trying to pick up some transactional work to get more experience. I am a quick learner and have no doubt I can move into more in house areas but it’s so hard to even get an interview to explain. Very few entry level jobs when I graduated and now can only get jobs in the stuff I don’t want to do anymore.
I have created a bowl for those who want to know more about their potential new firm - ask anonymously and hopefully someone within the firm will respond! Or we can help find the right person for you! Bowl name is biglaw offer - see you there!
Hi! My husband and I are considering a geographic move from the NE to the SE (Atlanta, specifically). I’ve done preliminary research into the job market and I’m curious what the culture around hours is respective of the lower salaries I’m seeing. For instance, I typically work 1900-2100 hours a year on cravath’s scale + year end bonus. I’m also told the large Atlanta firms expect 1900-2000. So how do they justify the comp reduction? Is it not a “true” 1900? No flak if you don’t hit it?
Mexican attorney here - I am currently researching LLM programs (specifically M&A) and somehow paying USD$200K to study in the US doesn’t seem too appealing.
I hold a Spanish passport which may help with tuition fees in European Universities - do you recommend any European LLM programs or should I just bite the bullet and ask for a loan and pay the USD$150 - 200K?
Mentioning the programs is greatly appreciated.
I just sent a work-related message to a person that’s staffed with me in a deal. I’ve become what I swore to destroy.
Has anyone transitioned from a case smart attorney position to an associate at Littler? Elsewhere? Is it feasible ?
Just found out that not everyone in my office is "sold" on the vaccine. Meanwhile, I'm going to be first in line having a pre-existing condition and family members that are high risk. I, apparently wrongly, assumed that the question of vaccination wouldn't have even arisen in my small legal office, but here I am freaked out about the future...
Hello! I just accepted a position in Pensacola, Florida. I'd appreciate any insight about the town, housing, vibe, etc. If you guys could share pros and cons please. TiA!
I’m a first year associate (I have been here a month and a half), what am I giving for Christmas to others in the office and who should those others be? Thanks in advance!
How does everyone handle managing their caseload and utilizing their paralegal(s)? I litigate primarily, with occasional small transactional projects that come up in the course of those files. It’s usually real estate related—drafting a purchase agreement, deed, etc. My firm is not one where we specialize so much that each case has the same process as every other case. So it often feels like I’m having to tackle something brand new in each and every case. (cont.)
Thinking of moving from government to big law. Any advice, thoughts, etc? I’m worried about the billables and my mental health.
I’ve been negotiating a settlement on behalf of a client. OP is a major corp. we’ve gone back and forth for months, almost a year. Finally came to a final agreement and we’re reviewing for final signature. Then client is reviewing and decides they want something else modified. It’s a point of contention. OP has said no. Should I communicate this to client before pushing back against OP’s rejection of the mod?
Haven’t gotten a raise in two years and I’m not happy at my current firm (we’re understaffed and overworked) but I’m planning on studying an LLM abroad. Any suggestions as to how to cope with the situation? I don’t want to look for another job if I’m leaving the country soon (that is if corona doesn’t have other plans).
