Get a TaskRabbit to check in for you
Yes I think you have to check in. Find one that does mobile check in
Let us know if you do it!
Yes. I've had good luck with mobile check in's at Aloft counting.
Might be a couple of nights short. Found super cheap hotel in Niagara Falls. Wonder if I could book it without physically checking in. Thanks guys!
You have to check-in - last year I found a Category 1 hotel nearby and just booked it on points to make my status
@H1 have you done that? Do I need to add that person in my reservation?
@A1 thanks. Can’t even find a cat 2 near me!!
@OP I haven’t but theoretically you could just call the hotel and add them to the reservation. I’ve certainly done that plenty of times with friends or my wife who are getting in before me and will need to be able to check in.
I have done "mattress runs" around Christmas time to keep my platinum status. Last year I was one of like five people checking in for the same reason according to the front desk. My advice is to be honest about what you're doing and they are more likely to accommodate. And when I did this last year I checked in in-person but was told that they would let me do it over the phone as long as I called when they are not super busy. YMMV
