Due respect but I don’t think you get a senior anything for $85k. In fact, calling that « senior » disses the value of the slot—even In less expensive markets. So, of course, someone will DM you and prove me wrong. But still.

Ok - fair enough and the creative hiring is the lynchpin. If all you have us $85k, why not go contract and buy the time you can afford? Or, offer it up as half time? Or, find a strat consultancy willing to work on a hourly to build a relationship? Or, say « I have $85k, tell me how we could make this work? » The trick is not to fall into the trap of title bait—if you can’t afford the full meal deal, find another way. While there’s likely someone out there hungry enough to nibble, better to set the thing up for success.

Hmm. Looking at this I see that the posting is 3-5 years experience and in Chicago. So if that’s truly someone with 3 years strat exp and work exp that isn’t a horrible salary. That being said, even if someone is doing a career pivot, it seems low for this age.

Thanks for the feedback. The situation’s fairly fluid. I have reviewed salary guidance data that says the salary is within range for a senior planner or one on the cusp. The job just may not be right for this group but I thought putting it out on here was no harm no foul. Not intended to insult but jus trying a creative approach. Thanks again.
