What if you did a nice dinner and a card with $50 inside? Then you get the benefit of bonding time, you can write a nice note about why they are a valuable part of the team in the card, and then also recognize them with cash, (which everyone appreciates). It could feel special to get a crisp $50 bill.
Oh, I had not thought about that! I think that might be the best option.
The dinner seems like a nice idea if everyone is close and would enjoy to get together. If not, then I'd go with the cash!
$$$
Yeah I get it, just thought since it was such a small amount and I’ll have to take taxes out, that the team may not appreciate it
Personally- $$$
A nice bonding dinner can also go a long way. And the bottle of wine as a gesture.
That is what I was thinking, I have to taxes out of any bonus money so I thought the team might get more out of the dinner
Actually why not just ask them for their input/preference? I feel by doing so, it speaks volumes about you as their leader. Also:
1) it shows you are considerate
2) it shows you not only consider, but value their feedback.
3) it engages them overall
4) either way, you’re going to end up spending the same amount dinner & drinks or bonus plus burden rate.
5) why not do both? There’s both the tangible and intangible measurable output that short or long term would benefit you as a company and in leadership.
6) how do you personally measure “better”? Then use that as a guide
7) how does your employees or company measure “better”?
…. I truly believe by giving your employees a voice (regardless of the outcome) there is an intangible value that boost overall team/company morale. … or not and just throw them a pizza party 🤷🏼♀️
This way the employees may feel bad for choosing the $100 though.
Both are such nice gestures honestly, but I believe most people would prefer the cash for gifts to others or to purchase a nice gift for self.
That is a good pint as well. Just wish I could do more
Whatever you choose, this is very thoughtful of you.
Dinner!!!
The dinner would benefit the company. The money would benefit the employees. If this is a bonus, you should benefit the employees primarily.
What an excellent point I had not considered!!! Thank you for your input!!
If my CEO were to ask us which one, I'd vote for the money.
I'd say it's a leadership call. Does your team have good chemistry ad work well together? If they lack in that department then maybe the dinner would be great for them.
Honestly, it's so sweet that you are putting time and consideration into their gifts, I'm sure they will truly appreciate either one.
Try getting everyone's schedule to see if it's even possible for everyone to go out on the same night. If not, that makes your decision easier.
The dinner sounds lovely! However, you can also ask them what as to what they prefer. For me, I think the dinner would be better.
The dinner is great idea to get to know them better and have them unwind a little. The bottle of wine is a nice touch as well. Enjoy!
I would prefer the dinner to be honest. This is a great chance to strengthen relationships at work. Have fun!
Such a sweet boss. Personally, I'll give them the freedom to choose for themselves. As much as I would love to have dinner, they might need the money more for something else.
I personally think that they'd appreciate the bonus more. But the dinner sounds like such a thoughtful plan. You'd be able to bond outside of work and actually have fun.
A personal note goes a long way.
I would recommend dinner and the wine, as it is more intimate. I agree having to withhold taxes is the sour note for me.
Let us know where you land!
