Hi international fishes, two Qs: 1. If I received a full scholarship from the school, should I apply for an F-1 or J-1 visa? 2. Does STEM OPT eligibility only apply to F-1? From my understanding with J-1 you have only 18 months of OPT without any extensions Thank you!

Already signed the offer with 30pct bump and new company initiated h1b transfer, but old company asked if I am interested in perm. What are legal consequences of asking old company initiate gc and have both perm by old company started with h1b transfer by new company in progress. The goal is to have options open as long as possible given that h1b transfer could take 6-8 weeks before making ‘final’ decision in these uncertain times. (Not from country with long wait time in perm.)

How do you come to terms with just not being smart enough to get to the next career level? Currently a senior consultant and the partners seem super humanly smart and good at their job, I think this is as high up as my brain can get

I am noticing that McKinsey is increasingly recruiting at non-elite schools (very roughly speaking not top 15 schools). At my old undergrad, 5 years ago the most competitive firm to show up was EY. This year McKinsey took 4 non-internship full hires. Why is McKinsey going “down market” for recruiting? Are elite school kids losing interest in consulting so McK has to cast a wider net? Or is McK seeking a wider pool for other reasons? I advise undergrads on consulting so want to be best informed.

A lot of my close friends in Tech are SWEs and are making ~400-500k / year. I am in Consulting and make ~160k/yr. I know this is already a lot and I am super privileged, but I still struggle with comparison. I have no interest in being a SWE but I still struggle with the lesser money I make.
