I recently finished a full-stack bootcamp, but I keep getting screened out during the technical interview stage. How should entry-level developers approach recruiters when many postings still emphasize prior industry experience?

If you are getting to the technical interview stage, I think that is a positive sign that your resume and/or portfolio is strong enough to get interviews. I suspect that what you are getting screened out on is deeper knowledge. I know through friends who took bootcamps in the “good times” (years pre-pandemic) that there is no time to spend going deep on a topic. For example, I think databases was like 3-4 days total. I think you are going to need to build up your portfolio and deepen your technical knowledge to the point where when they ask you something like “How do you do slightly obscure thing X in language Y?” you will be able to answer confidently that there are two ways to do X and you used them in your last projects. Good luck!

This answer is great, I'd add that you get a feeling of what responses didn't satisfy the interviewers, and start from those topics so that next time you are more prepared. It also requires some luck, so be patient.

Bootcamp grads often bring hustle, but yeah, it’s tough when job posts still ask for 2–3 years. Would love to know: are recruiters open to seeing portfolios or side projects as proof of readiness?

Focus on showcasing projects, practical skills, and problem-solving rather than just titles. When talking to recruiters, highlight your bootcamp work, any internships, and how quickly you can contribute. Demonstrating ability can outweigh formal experience.

Hi everyone,
One of my friends, he made a switch just 6 months back hoping he would get a better work environment a better package, but now he is just frustrated with the working environment, being a backend developer he has been asked to just fix bugs for almost 5 months now and that too in javascript without any KTs or any other trainings when he clearly did mention in the interview that he does not have prior knowledge on javascript.

What should he do? Any suggestions?
