I recently found out through a mutual friend that a recruiter I’ve been talking to has been looking through my personal, private Instagram account by following one of my friends. Nothing on there is illegal, but it feels like a massive invasion of privacy and has made me incredibly uncomfortable about working with them. I want to cut ties and work with a different recruiting agency, but I don’t want them to blackball me out of spite. Do I confront them about the cyber-sleuthing?

Learning about candidates in an informal way is actually how you make good matches and connections. It’s weird that you’re so sketched out by this. Welcome to the internet.

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
