Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

First, congrats on the promotion! I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. You're not alone! I think a lot of us are feeling like if we ruffle any feathers or have one slip up, it's somehow proving people's stereotype or wacky thought that we were a DEI hire...especially in these white spaces. Certain people seem to be feeling bolder than ever. Keep your head up and keep doing the job that was already meant to be yours based on your undeniable talent. Maintain your peace, sis!
Can feel like this. Especially, in first 90 days of a promotion. Usually, it will balance itself out. Also, most companies are laying off. The last persons workload doesn’t stop. They just divide it up amongst the team. The other side of promotion dump on the person that’s best suited for the role. I pray it levels out soon.
Congratulations on the new position! Remember, you got it because you deserve it and people know you can do the job. It's not uncommon for people to get promoted and start to feel a touch of imposter syndrome. But just do your usual good job, and don't stress yourself out too much. No need to work twice as hard, your usual good work is what got you there!
Congrats on the promotion, I Know that must be exciting. I definitely understand how you are feeling and the pressure that comes with moving up higher in management. This is a very challenging time for managers who have to deal with the fallout of companies pulling back DEI.
